BOOTHEEL RAMBLERS
The Bootheel Rambler Chapter of the Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club (HRRVC) was Chartered in July 1966 , with 8 charter members. The chapter grew to as many as 24 members by 1977. For reasons unknown to us, the group began to decline in the 1980’s and by 1998 had dwindled to only 2 members. It was deactivated in 1998. One possible reason for the decline in membership was because the Holiday Rambler dealer in Sikeston retired and closed his business. Without a dealer in the area, it was hard to find any prospective members. However, several people in the Bootheel area who own Holiday Ramblers worked together, along with Al VonderHaar, the Missouri State Manager and Bob Farrar, Region 5 Director, to re-activate the once active Bootheel Chapter 64. The chapter was re-activated in October 2000 with 5 members. We have now grown to 9 members. Yearly membership dues are $10.00 with an occasional assessment of $5.00 for the benevolence fund.
We have a monthly camp out during the months of March through November. Most of our campouts are in and around the Bootheel area in an approximate radius of 100 miles. You can check the Region 5 website, or the April issue of the Holiday Ramblings for our camp out schedule. We have recently started planning one week long camp out per year. This was started in 2001 and was very successful.
If you are a present Holiday Rambler owner or are contemplating a decision to buy a Holiday Rambler, we hope you will check us out. Our President this year is Joe Robinson from Caruthersville, MO.
Members at this time include, President, Joe Robinson, Caruthersville , Carol Crews, Malden; John & Joyce Schudel, Wappapello; Joe & Brenda Adair, Malden, Dean & Shirley Crow, Dexter, Gene & Norma Barnes, East Prairie; Rex Dorrough, Jackson, TN; Billy & Alice Needham, Dyer, TN, Jimmy & Jane Grissom, Lexington, TN; and, Terry & Nonna Reed, Brundidge, AL.
We are a fun-loving group with lots of things in common. We love to eat, visit and compare travel experiences. If you are from the Bootheel area and own a Holiday Rambler, we’ll look forward to hearing from you, or maybe one of these days our paths will cross as we travel around this great country of ours and we’ll be able to extend to you a personal invitation to join us.
